Prosper, Texas – Wind Gusts & Fireball Decisions

Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the wind apparently.

We headed to Gentle Creek Golf Club for the Ducks Unlimited outing, and yes this is the same course recently featured in videos with Bryson DeChambeau, Grant Horvat, and the Bryan Bros crew. If it’s good enough for YouTube golf royalty, it’s good enough for duck hunters.

We were set up on #9, and honestly, the hole looked like a postcard. Waterfall. Sand. Rolling green. Clubhouse backdrop. Just beautiful.

Then the wind hit.

Gusting at around 36 mph, it took roughly two foursomes before the Texas breeze decided our tent would be more useful halfway down a rattlesnake-and-poison-ivy-covered ravine.

So naturally… we asked golfers to go get it.

What we learned is this: if a golfer has consumed exactly the right amount of Fireball, self-preservation disappears completely. One brave soul eventually retrieved the tent late in the day, surviving the ravine like a National Geographic special.

The golf itself? All over the map. Smooth swings, violent swings, “I learned from YouTube yesterday” swings. Some golfers handled the heat well. Others looked like human beef jerky by the back nine.

Still, the laughs never stopped. Neither did the storytelling, the chirping, or the steady aroma of cinnamon whiskey floating through the Texas air.

Hot sun. Strong wind. Great people. And enough Fireball to choke a llama.

That’s a successful outing.
