Lafayette, Louisiana – Love Bugs, Lost Balls & Louisiana Chaos

Let The Day Begin!

The day started early at Wetlands Golf Course for the Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association golf outing, and from the jump it felt like Mother Nature couldn’t decide what she wanted. Rain. Sun. Humidity. Repeat.

Our View of #17

We were stationed on #17, a par 3 surrounded by water and sand — otherwise known as “Where Golf Balls Go To Die.” Some shots splashed. Some plugged into bunkers like freshly buried treasure. Fried eggs everywhere.

Oddly enough, no alligators bothered us all day. Maybe because a few holes over they had an AR-15 launching golf balls into the sky like some kind of Louisiana military experiment. Hard to blame the gators for keeping their distance.

The real enemy of the day? Love bugs.

Absolutely relentless. In your face. In your mouth. On your shirt. In your soul. No love for the love bugs.

Still, the golfers showed up and brought the energy. We saw beautiful tee shots that would make a golf pro smile… immediately followed by hosel rockets that endangered nearby wildlife. Laughs echoed all day long while golfers battled the elements, the bugs, and occasionally basic hand-eye coordination.

In the end, balls were lost, bugs were swallowed, and memories were made. That’s pretty much the perfect Louisiana golf outing.

Thanks for having us out. What a day.
