We spent an unforgettable day bringing the laughs to the Wednesday Pro-Am at the AdventHealth Championship at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City.
The morning groups battled plenty of rain, but the wet weather never dampened the atmosphere. The course was beautiful, the hospitality was first class and the golfers arrived ready to play although some were slightly more prepared than others.
We met several talented young professionals working their way toward the PGA TOUR, along with a few amateur golfers whose tour cards may still be lost in the mail. That combination made it a perfect day for Golf Hecklers: impressive shots, unpredictable swings and plenty of opportunities for clean, good-natured comedy.
We also encountered a couple of former NFL stars. Heckling former All-Pro defensive lineman Neil Smith felt considerably more dangerous than our typical assignment. Trent Green was there as well, and knowing he could probably throw a golf ball directly at us from anywhere on the course, we proceeded with the appropriate level of caution and respect.
The most memorable shot of the day didn’t head toward the green or even remain in front of the golfer. The ball ricocheted off a golf cart tire and somehow finished approximately 20 yards behind the player who hit it. Even we weren’t prepared for that one. Golf truly is a game of inches…and occasionally negative yardage.
We started the day wet, eventually dried out and spent the entire event getting exactly what we came for: big laughs, friendly high-fives and memorable interactions with every group that came through.
Golf Hecklers brings clean, interactive comedy to corporate golf outings, charity tournaments, country club member-guests and professional pro-am events nationwide. We respect the golfers, the course and the atmosphere while adding an entertainment experience guests will remember long after the final putt drops.
