Golf Hecklers in Iron Mountain: Cool Weather, Wild Shots, and a Great Cause

On September 17, Golf Hecklers headed to Pine Grove GC in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to help raise money for Beacon House. The weather was brisk, the golfers were optimistic, and the wildlife had absolutely no idea how stressful its afternoon was about to become.

Some shots were crisp. Others were slightly soggy. Mostly, it depended on how deep into the woods you had to go to find them.

Nothing says “beautiful day for golf” like emerging from the trees with wet socks, half a backswing, and a ball you’re reasonably confident belongs to you.

Deer on Alert. Squirrels Taking Cover.

The deer were on alert. The squirrels were reconsidering their neighborhoods. Somewhere in the woods, a woodland creature was learning that “FORE!” means a guy in a quarter-zip has lost control of the situation.

Fortunately, Golf Hecklers was there to provide commentary.

A great shot deserves applause. A ball ricocheting through three trees deserves a little analysis. Especially when the golfer turns around and says, “I think it opens up over there.”

Sure does. Eventually you get to Wisconsin.

That’s the beauty of golf: one player hits a gorgeous shot down the middle, and the next launches a search party. Both get back in the cart convinced they’re one small adjustment away from figuring this game out.

Big Laughs for Beacon House

As much fun as we had commenting on everyone’s questionable relationship with the fairway, the reason for the day mattered most: fundraising for Beacon House.

We love being part of golf tournaments where people come together to support a great cause, share some laughs, and occasionally donate a perfectly good golf ball to the local ecosystem.
